Hello, my name is Joshua b Smith and I own NRG-X Labs here in Springfield, MO. NRG-X Labs is a sport supplement company that was founded in 2008 with a simple motto: "Excellence in Nutrition". I believe and will endeavor to prove to you that supplement and nutrition companies don't have to be the 'shady' and dishonorable organizations that the majority of them have become, it's my goal to show that Godly principles of honor, trust, respect and doing the right thing because it's the right thing can be successfully applied in business and in the sport supplement field.

Before I started NRG-X Labs I worked on the North Slope of Alaska's oil fields in Prudhoe Bay, AK. I had always been very interested in the sport supplement and nutrition market so when the opportunity came to start an e-commerce company and sell sport supplements online, well... I jumped on it with both feet. I knew nothing about business and even less about web sites or building them... however, after reading many... and do I mean MANY books on the flights to and from work (I lived in Arkansas and flew to Prudhoe Bay, AK every 3 weeks) on the subjects of web programming, selling and business topics I started my very own web-site!! I sold everything under the sun, from vitamins to pro hormones to workout gloves and books, you name it my site had it - I figured it up the other day and in the 6 years that I owned my e-commerce company I sold well over $15,000,000 worth of fitness and nutritional products!!

Well, in just 4 short years my 'little' web site was humming along nicely and Inc. Magazine named my store the #40 fastest growing business in the US for 2007 in the retail sector; and as if that wasn't enough they also named me as one of their "Top CEO's in America under the age of 30 years of age". For someone who started out in a spare bedroom with about $50 of startup capital this was a true blessing to be honored in such elite company... it was a rush that's for sure and an awesome experience!

While I was building and running my e-commerce store there was one thing that kept bugging me about the industry I was now involved in, it wasn't the most honest or trustworthy marketplace. This seems odd since people are intrusting manufacturers with their health and fitness goals and you would think this would be of the utmost importance to company owners. However, it seemed to me that nothing could be further from the truth. It was common place to hear of another manufacturers CEO or founder going off to jail again because of some illegal substance in their formula or even worse finding out that what they said was in the formula wasn't... it was just sugar flavored powder!! Of course as with most 'big business' all this is very hush hush and the end user (you and me) never find out about it and just keep on buying the brand, never knowing the truth about the company behind it.

These issues had to stop, or if not stop I at least thought clients would appreciate a company that would devote itself to the manufacture of above-board supplements, using the highest end ingredients, newest equipment and keeping up with all the FDA regulations that are supposed to keep our nutritional and sport supplement products safe; instead of trying to find ways to sidestep or 'work around' the regulations!! So, in 2008 I started NRG-X Labs with a very singular purpose: to prove that Godly principles of honor, trust, respect and doing the right thing because it's the right thing can be successfully applied in business and in the sport supplement field. I knew it would be a long road as how do you prove this to people; you have to show your clients that: hey, this product works and hey, it taste good and, oh wow I can tell a difference in how I feel. All this takes time but you know what... it's a long game and I got nothing but time!!

At this time I was running both companies by myself with no employees, no staff and no help at all... it was taking its toll to say the least and I hate to admit it but I started to get burnt out with my e-commerce company, things were slipping through the cracks and to be blunt I wasn't doing the quality job I had always held myself to in the past, something had to change. Boy did it, in 2009 me and Megan found out that we were going to have a little baby girl, our first! So, that fall, 3 days before Megan's due date; I sold my e-commerce company... I said goodbye to my first company and said hello the my new baby girl, Hadley Grace Smith.

NRG-X Labs is a Christian and Christ centered company and I believe that God is in everything we do. From the formulations to the labels to the ad layouts to this very web site - and to that end we give Him all the glory for our success and love Him dearly and serve Him gladly. I believe in the blessing of the tither (the biblical principal of giving gladly at least 10% of your income to the Lord and His house). It has always been my goal to become a 'reverse' tithing company and individual in which my company, Megan and myself would give 90% to the Lord and His work and keep and live on the 10% portion. Great men of God like R. G. Letourneau, the father of modern earthmoving, and Henry Crowell the founder of the Quaker Oat Co., Coleman Outdoors and countless other companies both gave much more than they kept to the Lords work. With the Lords mercy and grace I strive toward that end as well.

I said all that to say this, I want to change the way you think about the sport supplement and nutritional industry - I want you to see that as manufacturers we can be and should be held accountable to a higher level to produce excellent products for our clients. I know that once you try an NRG-X Labs item you'll be able to tell the difference right away... and you'll be singing our motto... "Excellence in Nutrition"!
